@Eric. Many people are using/recommending this powerbank with their systems. https://shop.ansmann.de/en/powerbank-pb222pd-10ah-bk
Similarly the nitecore 10000mAh portable power has also been used. Very (most) compact 10000mAh on the market?! https://charger.nitecore.com/product/nb10000
I’m interested to see what you find because many people in the WiiM forums are happy with the bump up in sound quality when switching to various types of power banks. Notably some people have had bad experiences as well… wondering if this has to do with the quality of switching regulators in the powerbank?!
With rrgards to the LHY LPS models from audiophonics – I know a few people who use tbem and mostly they are satisfied…
hi everyone,
forgive me for not following the customs in your forums. please do not misunderstand my brevity as disrespect.
it’s my general experience in online forums – where people join and leave the discussions frequently – that most moderators prefer to keep posts within threads as close to the discussion topic as possible so as not to derail the discussions. and to limit „hello“ and „goodbye“ messages to the subforums specifically designated for such posts or to cases where there has been a significant gap in time between posts in a thread… we also just refer to people as their usernames by default, since they chose the username, unless they specifically ask to be reffered by some other name. (all of this improves the future readability of the threads without having unnecesary text clogging up the timeline)
feel free to refer to me as B+A/bows/bowsandarrows
PS: i agree we should keep posts in the native language because the AI translators will improve over time, hopefully! also just about the usernames, people are free to use their real name in the username, and in most cases that is the indication of their preference in communication. using a pseudonym communicates to me that you prefer to be pseudonymous in this discussion – eliminating the need for unnecessary questions, again.
it’s interesting you say that there is an audible difference between LAN cables (stranded vs solid core). i thought this would have been limited to speaker cables or other ICs maybe.
+ yes, it would be great if you could share some examples. the spec sheets of most LAN cables only specify AWG numbers but do not specify solid vs stranded (in my experience). thanks
i am using the vanatoo transparent zero+ actives with a ruark rs2 subwoofer via LFE out. and yes the iPurifier has mini-toslink in (via the RCA/coax in port – pretty cool implementation!) and out (dedicated mini-toslink out). so it can be used as a coax>mini-toslink converter and vice versa, as well as coax>coax or mini-toslink>mini-toslink. handy little gizmo!
just of note with the switch to LPS for the speakers – there was a notable increase in the dynamic range produced by the setup (even on „compressed“ loud recordings), less fatiguing sound with retained punch/macrodynamics (even though i rarely listen above 75dB for longer than a few minutes at a time!) and weirdly enough – the off-axis performance of the speakers also notably improved!! the off-axis performance of my speakers (esp vertical) was already really good, but now the horizontal off-axis performance is incredible – almost approximating a true „sphere“ of music that you would expect from a stage of musicians…
@misterg
you’re welcome. and yes, the WiiM pro is a solid streamer, the software is really good imo. but to see how much the sound improves when you apply noise reduction component changes/tweaks to the system is eye-opening. maybe with all the ethernet-sound tweaks we can get the noise floor in this to match the Grimm models?! but it will almost cost the same after all the modifications then, haha…
But I couldn’t find it in the product menu?
Best regards,
Maxyes i think it’s discontinued because you can only find it via search on their website. similar to the original iPower (v1) and S/PDIF iPurifier (v1)…
it’s also been out of stock on the european site for at least 1-2 months.
Did you happen to test an “Ifi SPDIF iPurifier2”?
i have been using this i my system that has a WiiM pro (connected using tp-link WLAN technique from this website) > coax out > S/PDIF iPurifier 2 > toslink out > active speakers
the tp-link and S/PDIF ipurifier are powered by a topping p50 LPS. the WiiM pro streamer is powered by the ifi iPower (v1 that comes free in the box with S/PDIF ipurifier).
i think of it as a „master clock“ in the optical system, as this way i bypass the sending clock in the WiiM and it „forces“ the active speakers to use the (probably more accurate) external 10MHz clock in the ipurifier. i’m not certain that this is what is happening, but to me it had an audible impact to the sound that is approximately the same as when i switched off WLAN in the streamer (WiiM) and used the tp-link method.
interestingly as a side note, i noticed the biggest jump in sound quality when i switched recently from the SMPS that came with my active speakers to the („own brand“) audiophonics 24V (100W) LPS + titan audio nyx power cable..
As fas as I’m aware the DC ipurifier 2 has been discontinued.
But the tests are really interesting… thanks for sharing
oh, fair enough. thanks for the context. i was unaware that this UA1101L was already tested somewhere else…
in any case, i’m considering a BLUETTI model for camping etc anyways, so i might try listening tests with my Hi-Fi if i get it…
In case you have not considered this portable AC power supply, they are having a sale:
It’s not the same 1000W as the one you sent, but it still has 2 x AC outlets.
sorry for being impatient, haha, but is the Easter present due before the weekend??
joined the forum in anticipation of the reports of the NEW choke cable! super excited to see what is next in the evolution of this awesome device…
thanks for all the investigating + trial and error, much appreciated
